|Promoting Transformation: Linking Natural Resources, Economic Growth, and Governance (TransLinks)|
In September of 2006, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) engaged EnterpriseWorks/VITA (EWV), as part of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) consortium, to implement it’s program titled, “Promoting Transformation: Linking Natural Resources, Economic Growth, and Governance” (TransLinks). The five-year, worldwide program seeks to improve land resources management and governance to enhance biodiversity conservation and productivity for sustainable poverty reduction, empowerment and economic growth. Expanding upon a range of ongoing research, tool development, capacity building, and technical assistance programs to address complex rural development needs, the program supports cross-cutting approaches that link natural resource management to economic growth and good governance.
Throughout the project EWV will focus its efforts on outreach to sector-specific stakeholders; workshops focusing on economic options in biodiversity-rich areas; and the development of a decision support tool for evaluating natural product market opportunities.
